SPLOT kicks off 2024 with the second VA compilation, defining the contours of the label between local-gems discoveries as well as emblematic international producers in the bass field.

Seekers VA starts off mystically. Our own SPLOT ambassador dadan karambolo shows his identity within the 140 BPM realm and modern areas of the UK bass sound in the pulsating track ‘roll of thunder’. One-half of a Warsaw duo Private Press, Blu Terra takes you straight into moody sci-fi territory with ‘Zero Reasons’, a hybrid blend of electrifying bass and electro music territories. Don’t be fooled by opening on a high, this belter of a tune keeps rising and rising. Then comes Xen Chron with his energetic bass floater. ‘Ice Flight’ glistens and shines while pounding heavily with bass and jumpy rhythm.

The title track, courtesy of Low End Activist, is his take on retrofuturistic grime and 90s-like IDM mutations. Sliding bass and cold samples conduct this tune through a wide range of auras. All bound together by bouncy drums. Warsaw’s live act and producer Lotus Reaction provided ‘Nolly’ – a dexterously arranged synth jam, something he’s very much known for on the local club scene. Beautiful ambient outro completes this unique hybrid. Next up, Dawn Razor goes deeper into a clubnight madness with his techno-infused bass tune. ‘Dextrose’ starts with tangled syncopated rhythms and unfolds into a dancefloor tool of the highest order.

Hailing from Wrocław, Donija slows things down. ‘Twitchy Noise’ lets the bass and drums present themselves in full colour, by leaving much space between hits and at the same time – leaving nothing to be desired. Entire brings the subtle tribal workout in ‘Our Falsehood’. His trademark organic sound takes over, serving as an atmospheric background to swift drum and bass. A masterful closing is brought to you by Berlin-based Katiusha, who cooked up a difficult to label but extremely captivating track ‘Creeper Deluxe’. Her forward-thinking, psychedelic take on SPLOT sound serves as a perfect conclusion of the VA.
